Working With Communities

The Pfizer CARES program is supported by  the senior leadership team that meets regularly to discuss how Pfizer should best care for patients, colleagues, community and our environment.

Pfizer provides up to four volunteer days for colleagues to volunteer for any organisation or charity that has community impact. Organisations we frequently support include Ronald McDonald House, Foodbank, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Variety The Childrens’ Charity and The McGrath Foundation.

In addition to responding to community need, Pfizer has two colleague led grant programs – our Charity of Choice and Community Collaboration Grants.

Charity of Choice: Our Charity of Choice is chosen every three years by our colleagues. Our charity of choice must:

a) have a national presence;

b) advance human health and wellbeing or education; and

c) support colleague volunteering opportunities in areas our colleagues live and work.

Our current Charity of Choice is The Smith Family

Community Collaboration Grants: Pfizer CARES also provides Community Collaboration Grants through colleague applications for registered charities they are connected to. This is a competitive, annual process with applications opening around July.  Charities and organisations are unable to apply for these grants, as our colleagues determine the recipients.

Pfizer’s response to The Bushfire Crisis: Throughout the summer of 2019/2020 Pfizer colleagues have been incredibly concerned by the impact of the Bushfires. The Pfizer CARES program has encouraged colleagues to donate to The Red Cross and every dollar they raised has been matched by Pfizer Australia. We have also been pleased to support the Foodbank with donations of excess bottled water and funds. The Pfizer Foundation generously donated funds to the Direct Relief agency, which has been and continues to work with local community to respond to emergencies, including the provision of P3 masks for volunteer workers and ongoing community rebuilding efforts. We will continue to respond as the needs of those impacted changes.
